The Atheists bus - a journey to where?

You may remember, some years ago, that enthusiastic atheists sponsored adverts on buses that told us "There is probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life." (Note the "probably").

If there is no God, we have every reason to worry. Man, left to himself seems to self-destruct. "Let us eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die ." This is a quotation from the Bible about people who rejected God. Some things don’t change. Don’t be misled.

If you think there probably is a God, then it is foolish to ignore him. Why wouldn’t you want to know him? Belief in God brings a calmness and security that no amount of self-indulgence can supply. A follower of Christ, is encouraged to practice: "Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

The result? "The God of peace shall be with you." ( Philippians 4: 8&9 )

If you want to know more about God and His purpose with our world, you should read the Bible for yourself. You will find that God really does exist, and you will also learn about His son Jesus Christ. In his life Jesus actually shows us by all his words and actions what His Father is like – and what He asks of us.

It requires an open mind and thoughtful commitment – but the benefits are life – changing and everlasting. This journey will end in the coming kingdom of God.

Over the next 2 weeks we will take a closer look at the Bible.
